YETI YHOPM30 - Hopper M30 Soft Cooler

Prior to owning the Hopper M30 Soft Cooler, I had the Hopper Two 40 and absolutely loved the size. The reason I now have the Hopper M30 Soft Cooler is due to the zipper separating on the Hopper Two 40. I filed a warranty claim and Yeti immediately started the return process and gave me a few options for a replacement product. I chose the M30 because it seemed to be the largest cooler given the options provided by Yeti. Using the M30: I have been using the Hopper M30 for about five months now and have used it thoroughly. Though I really miss the size of the Hopper Two 40, I really like the magnetic design on the M30. Why do I like this design when there are so many negative reviews regarding this new design by Yeti? The answer is quite simple…it ALWAYS stays closed! With the zipper on the Hopper Two 40 I was the only person who always zipped it all the way. Everyone else would only zip it to the point leaving the drain open. With the drain opening not zipped all the way ice would be lost at a much more rapid rate. When you’re sitting on the end of a pier, or out on the boat, this is not what you want when your purpose is to keep the beer cold on 115 degree days in the South. Therefore, the magnetic closure eliminates this issue! Loading the cooler: I’m really not sure why there are so many negative comments regarding this process. Is it a different process than previous Yeti designs? Yes, it is without question. As with anything new, it takes a little time to figure out the best process. For me, it’s really quite simple and easy. If I am loading my empty M30 then I have drinks sitting next to me that I am about to place inside the cooler. Take two beer cans (12oz regular or slim cans or a bottle of water and wedge them directly in the center of the cooler…boom problem solved! It takes a few times to get the hang of it, but once you do it is extremely easy. In addition, because the M30 is wedged open, loading your ice into the cooler is a lot easier as well! Loading ice into the Hopper Two 40 wasn’t hard, but it was a challenge because you had to open the bag and then shove the bag of ice into the cooler without spilling ice everywhere, which always happened to some degree. With the magnetic closure being wedged open there is no more ice being lost while loading the M30. It’s just like dumping ice into a hard shell cooler at this point. Size: Obviously, I cannot load as much into the M30 as I could the Hopper Two 40. However, I can fit a case of slim cans and about 3-5 waters on top and a 10lb bag of ice. With the Hopper Two 40 I could load a case and a half and some water, or two cases of slim cans with almost 20lbs of ice. My wife would always complain about how heavy it was…not sure why she did because I was always the one carrying it! Yeti, PLEASE make a M40!!!!!

I really like this cooler. The magnet (vs the zipper works very well, and is the easiest closing cooler in existence. When adding items, have patience until you figure out the best way for you personally to keep it open... there are several diff ways that work well. There is also a YouTube video on the Yeti page with suggestions.

Been using this for about a year, primarily as a drink cooler when camping and when we go to the beach. I can't stand when the kids leave a traditional cooler part way open. The magnetic design ensures it always snaps right shut just by letting go of the thing. It's perfect for use around kids that have the tendency to not close it back up after getting their drink/snack. Insulation is exactly what you'd expect from Yeti. Keeps ice the whole (long) weekend even when repeatedly opened on a daily basis. Yes, it does take two hands to open it, but an easy hack is to just prop open the top with a can or a freeze pack for easy loading.

Soo good that I bought 2 m30s. I don't have a problem with the enclosure like others do. In fact I absolutely love it. I hope they come out with more colors of my taste like that new taupe color for thier drink ware. Please yeti make that color scheme for the m30!

How people can say this cooler is junk is beyond me. This cooler is the best one we own out if several brands hard and soft. Very easy to load by yourself....

I bought one last year while working in San Diego. This sucker is fantastic for the beach. It sat in the sun and held ice all day with minimal melting and the drinks were still ice cold at the end of the day. Its soft and pack easily. The shoulder strap makes it super easy to carry. My friend asked his wife for one for Christmas so he could use it fishing. The magnet is strong and hasn't leaked yet. Use two drink cans to hold it open to load or dry, super easy.

We bought this cooler for the beach and while we haven't used it at the beach just yet we've used it quite a bit for a bunch of random trips. It's the perfect fit for our Jeep and keeps our lunch and drinks ice cold all day. Best of all, with the magnets you don't have to worry about your kids leaving it open. Loading is easy if you have a bottle you can wedge in the opening. Pair it with a Sidekick and you have the perfect day trip cooler.

Look here Don't listen to the other reviews about hard to load unload etc. this cooler is the cats meow. I admit I was hesitant about spending that much for a cooler but I sure am glad I did. I freaking Love this thing and I am sure you will as well Just watch the video yeti has on it and go buy 1 for yourself you can thank me later. Dumped a case of beer in it and a bag of ice still plenty of room left and if yeti ever makes a smaller 1 for my kayak that's magnetic well I will be buying 1 of those as well.

I’ve had mine for a year and it’s amazing. Opening it is not hard, watch the Yeti video. You will never forget to close it and it will never leak because of the magnetic strip. All beverages and food stay cold for days. It’s easy to lug around and is durable. I highly recommend this cooler.
