Good Trail Shoes

I went through two pairs of these on the Appalachian Trail in about 600 miles, maybe a little more. Totally beat the crap out of them. My pack weight is about 24 lbs max with food and water. These shoes were soaked (non gortex, recommended). I sized up 1/2 a size and went wide. That worked for me. So, bottomline. These shoes will not go the distance of a long hike but they are comfortable. The rocks of VA and PA destroyed them but my feet survived. The rubber guard on the toe rubbed off on both pairs. I think the rubber guard is some sort of coating instead of a chunk of rubber. I'll be looking for a shoe with a little more beef on them. These are fine for Section hikers. Much better than a trail runner.
