Danner really struck gold with this design. Thanks to the modern last they're built on, these have been the most comfortable straight out of the box of any stitchdown style I've owned. The leather is supple, yet strong, while the outsole is what impresses me most. The micronized traction lugs are significantly grippier than other Vibram compounds, and with the additional surface area, this sole should perform much better in the snow than the kletterlift that's on most of their other USA made hiking boots. The fit is narrow in the heel and very generous through the forefoot and toe box, making it one of the easier styles to accommodate after market footbeds. If you're on the fence, pick these up!
