Danner 23820 - Lookout 5.5" Black

My 5th pair of these boots. Took about a week to break in. After that they fit like glove.

I have issues with being on my feet for long periods. My foot and ankle tend to hurt have several hours. These boots have helped with that, no longer is it so painful at the end of a shift behind the parts counter. Everyone always wants to buy the cheapest, the cheapest is not necessarily the best thing to do in the long run. If these hold up I don't plan on buying another pair for a couple of years.

They are comfortable but my pant legs get caught on the tab on the heel.

These are the third pair of these boots I’ve worn. I like the fit and feel. They are very durable. The last pair I wore for 4 years. I did find a problem with the boot. I purchased my second pair in 2016. I like them so much I decided to but another pair in 2017 to have available when I needed to use them. In 2020 the pair from 2016 wear showing some wear and I started using the pair I had on my shelve that I had purchased in 2017. I immediately noticed an annoying crackle and squeaking sound coming from the heel are. I called and was told that due to the age of the boot I could not get a refund. I understood this. I was given a $15 discount for a new pair of insoles which we hoped would solve the problem. The new insoles still made the same noise. Frustrated I then ordered a new pair and they were delivered. I received a good discount on this new pair. When the new pair arrived I threw away the brand new pair I purchased in 2017. Then when wearing the pair I just ordered the same noise occurred. Now I wasn’t at all happy. I then did some investigation and finally found the problem. The rubber on the bottom sides of the insole rubs against the inside of the boot causing the noise. I put a thin piece of material on the entire area of the insole and reinserted them. The noise is gone. I paid for a new pair of insoles and a new pair of boots when the problem could have been solved for the pair of boots I had purchased in 2017. So about an extra $100 later the problem is solved. I still like the boot but would suggest engineers look into this and fix the issue.

Sorry to say this is the last pair I will by, was buying these elusively for years. The last 3 pair in a row that I have go are not put together like they use to be, there is some part loose in the bottom and when walk make lots of noise, 2 pair could feel the arch moving while walking. Danners China quality is exactly that, China quality. Danners does not make a style and size made in U.S.A. for me. To bad I liked them for years. Rick Rosenau

The first pair of boots lasted two years. This is my second pair and looking forward to another two years of comfort.
