Danner 18210 - Black Belt

Better than I imagined. I wear then all day, every day and I never have problems with my arches. I wouldn’t trade them.

I work in film & tv as a lighting technician. I am really hard on shoes. My checkboxes in order are: Comfortable, Safety toe, non-conductive sole, reasonable durability for cost, made in the USA. I research hard before I buy and I stick with what works--I'll buy the same exact model over and over if it suits. I used to wear a similar product from K33n--probably went through 6 or 8 of the same exact pair--but the soles would wear through in less than 3 months, and with the premium for supporting American workers it was just out of the budget to buy 4 pairs a year. I switched to a now-discontinued Danner model that lasted about as long but was imported and a third cheaper. When they introduced these Made in America Blackbelt shoes, I was wary of changing--so wary that I actually sought out a pair of the old style closeout and put them in the closet when I realized they were getting cut. I was worried about some of the complaints about the seam in the toebox--yes, I can feel it if I try, but it wasn't uncomfortable even from the start. I've had these shoes almost 5 months, which is nearing twice as long as I ever got out of the other options, and the sole is still going strong. The stitching around the safety toe just needed some glue, and I expect by the end of the 6 month mark they'll be done, as the upper is starting to tear in some of the creases where they flex... but for a Made in the USA shoe that's all-day comfortable with a safety toe and non-conductive sole, these leave all the other options in the distant past.

So far. So good. Fit is perfect. Hopefully they will wear well. Wore them all weekend at an event and did some like trail walking. Comfortable.

I had to give these shoes 5 stars. They are comfortable. They are protective. They are slip resistant. They are durable. Everything they claim to be. But what gives them 5 stars.... time. I work as a mason, paver, general contractor, my shoes/boots get beat up day in/day out. I went with a work shoe over a boot many years ago because of working under the sun I wanted to be as cool and as light as possible. But I still needed the protection like a work boot. I went through several pairs over the years, many times replacing them during the season. But not these. This is my 2second year wearing the Danner black belt shoes and they have zero rips or tears. The laces and lace loops are all fine. The traction is still strong and provides grip. They are as sturdy as when I bought them. I can't recommend this shoe enough, for any line of work that requires protection. With that being said, I hope Danner continues this line into the future because that's when I'll need to get another pair. Thank your for reading, you won't be disappointed. Great shoe Danner...

I have purchased many Danner products through the years, and have never been disappointed. Everything is well made and sturdy, (Work Boots, Hiking Boots etc.) I would recommend them to everyone. Plus they say their made in the USA.
