Danner 16715 - Women's Stronghold

Just bought a second pair for myself and even getting another pair as a gift for my sister. These came in exactly the time frame Danner claimed. Packaged beautifully! No joke it's like opening a gift at Christmas! LOVE IT! Been working on a home project building a wall to wall bookshelf and since getting these composite toe boots I have not had one thing smash my toe like I previously had happine in my Danner Inquire Chukka's. I've had many types of Danner shoes through the years and after 5 years I'm still wearing my Danner Mountain Light and Danner Mountain 600. Both wear very differently. The Mountain Light is a heavier hiking boot but sturdy keeping your ankles from rolling while on the paths less taken. Also surprisingly water poof without a flaw. The Mountain 600 is light weight still completely capable of near the same terrain as the Light and magically water proof. I wanted something similar and saw the Chukka's on sale..... turns out they are not waterproof but I still love them but will wait on summer to pull those out again. But now let me tell you about these babies.... This Stronghold boots are stiff at first which lasts a good 30 to 40 mins first wear then you grow use to it and it's not a bother. Theu are a little harder to slip on foot because they do not open nearly as wide as any other shoe I've talked about though I can say it's similar to the Jungle 917 at least as far as room to push foot through ( Jungle 917 also a great summer shoe). I believe they made these to be oil proof with may explain why tongue of shoe is sewn as it is attached to inner lining. Not a big deal for me but if you have weak wrists...good luck. Now I've only taken these out a few times on the trails of snow but I can definitely say with how many times I've shoveled this year in this for a month now THEY ARE THE BEST SNOW SHOE EVER! I know crazy! They are not super warm but if you are moving and have your blood pumping do you really need extra insulated...I mean really?! My feet stay dry even when the leather looks soaked. As far as sizing... well I always go a half size down and never have had any issues with any of the 7 pairs I own. So I'm going to say always go a half size down, order your friends a half size down...ect. Now touching on the weight of shoe... I spoke of that about the other shoes... these are in-between the weight of the Mountain Light and Mountain 600. Their grip is amazing on snow, on wet rocks, at the sloppy beach, in my unpaved driveway of mud, and I can only assume they will be fabulous for spring hikes, which I hope comes really soon because I'm dying here in Utah with snow piles taller than me. The arch in these shoes is far better than Mountain Light but not as high as Mountain 600, more in the middle of the two. So while these are on this crazy sale I'd say it's no risk just do it and sign up to be a Danner Member, not only will you begin your Danner adventure days sooner, you'll also get a heads up on new releases and deals like this before anyone else does! Our whole family has Danner...okay except for the 7 year old but he will once he gets into those sizes..... You Seriously Can't go wrong!

I wear an 8 medium width and these boots fit true to size. They are comfortable and pretty light. Also love the color.
