These are really nice boots - a birthday gift for my husband. He already had a pair in tan that he wears a lot so now he has a pair in black. Great to wear working outside or for a motorcycle ride. Well made and sturdy. Fit true to size.

(Note: review was completed in exchange for a $15 off discount. This does not change my opinion on the boot.) This is my first shoe from CAT's footwear brand and I have to say that I love it. The construction looks and feels high-quality, equal or better to what I would expect for this price point. Removable insole, quality (long!) laces, actual leather body and a thick, padded tongue. The pattern on the sole looks like it could get easily caught on sharp edges and cause problems, but a little bit of care would probably reduce that risk. The boots are somewhat heavy, a given thanks to the thickness of the rubber sole, but, to me, not so heavy that they're uncomfortable to wear for long periods. I hadn't shopped for shoes in a few years so measured my foot at home and came out to about a men's 6.5 W - this boot fits basically perfectly. Heel stays in place, toes aren't squeezed. When putting the boot on, the end of the tongue where the leather starts is a bit tight and sometimes can pull thicker socks back when inserting the foot, but once the boot is on, this isn't a problem and there isn't a sensation of tightness. (Note: I got the soft-toe version of this boot. I suspect a hard toe may cause more problems in this area due to lack of flexibility.) If your foot swells during the day, try going up a half-size. If you want to replace the insole and need a thick insole, also consider going up a half- or full-size - the included insole is very thin, and thick insoles might not give your foot enough room. My only complaint is the lack of eyes and use of hooks at the ankle, which for me led to some feelings of instability/floppiness in the ankle area. I re-laced my boots with a ladder lace (a bit hard to do with the hooks, but they're deep enough for two layers of lace and this worked out just fine) and that solved my problem. On a more subjective aesthetic standpoint, I love the simple way these boots look. I admit I bought these boots more for their looks (and sizing - so few brands offer men's 6.5 wides), and they really stand up in person. Admittedly, CAT's gold-colour branding does detract slightly, but under jeans you usually don't see the logos. Aesthetically, these boots are great for casual daily wear. Overall if you're looking for a high-quality and simply-designed boot that will likely stand up to a bit of abuse and is true-to-size, this boot is for you. I suspect these boots will last more than long enough to pay for themselves.

I bought this boot just a week before going on a 10-day, 3000 mile motorcycle ride, and am I glad I did! They are extremely comfortable and held up pretty well in the rain as well. I now wear them everyday to work (50/50 desk job/ on my feet).
