It is a comfortable shoe for the type. Due to the composite toe, it runs a little on the heavy side. I actually purchased this to try and match the hiking style boot I had in brown. Black is required at work, but I could not find the hiking style in black so I settled for this. The reason for the purchase was solely to meet comfort demands on a healing fractured fibula. It does relatively well as it does not put too much pressure on the ankle, which keeps the pain at a minimum. It is not as comfortable as the hiking boot, as I desired, but it is bearable. I would recommend this boot for those looking for a composite toe boot. Overall, it is comfortable and a good looking boot. Experiment with the snugness of the laces. Do not think you have to make it extremely tight. If you do, you may put too much pressure on the nerve running on top of your foot causing some discomfort. A semi-loose lace tightening does the trick. Play with the laces to match your comfort level.

A little on the heavy side and not much cushion. Spending more than 12 hours a day in these boots I had to purchase new insoles since they feel very rigid . But the sizing is perfect I bought one size smaller a 8.5 instead of a 9.
