The pants have been stellar! Great fit, ability to shed moisture and are stretchy. The knee pads are essential for my work. I need to be able to move around plants and trees. The pockets allow me to carry my cellphone in a protected place. The most recent purchase was made for wear as comfortable casual use. All around great pants!

I very much like these pants, and would be happy to give them a full five stars except for this one thing:
The fabric that forms the outer layer of the knee isn't tough enough to withstand heavy duty use.
The kneepad inserts themselves are comfortable, provide good cushioning, and are very durable. And the convenience of a double front hidden knee pad is just unbeatable.
But nevertheless, depending on what I've got to do on the jobsite, I can rip through the outer layer of these pants in a matter of months. And having a tailor fix that is almost the price of the pants themselves.

Comfortable with cargo pockets on both sides and knee pad pockets make these pants perfect for working on the landscape on your knees. The older version of steel pants arent as rugged but they are cooler on a hot day. Although it is more difficult to get the knee pads into the bottom of the knee pad pockets on older style pant it works better because the new style with velcro closure on top tends to catch on things and collects debris. The older style pant only has cargo pocket on one side though

I bought a pair of these pants about 8 months ago. They quickly became my favorite work pants! I loved the way they fit, and feel. In winter great with a base layer, and in summer they arent too heavy. I do a wide range of construction from interior finish to siding/ stucco, and the kneepad insert makes these pants perfect for whatever the day brings. My only issue is after 8 months the inseam of the pants tore on one pair near the crotch, and on the other they tore right in front of the right pocket ?? for the price of $90 I'd expect them to hold up longer than that. Still my favorite carhartt pants design, but wish they lasted longer.
