Carhartt 101301 - Base Force® Super-Cold Weather Quarter-Zip Top

Good fit, although sleeve length is slightly long. Good base layer for colder climates but also useful has a long sleeve T in mild weather. I like it.

I like the shirt it fits very well, very comfortable, warm and long enough which is hard to find. The only complaint I have is the zipper sits right at my Adam’s apple. If it wasn’t a moch neck it would be perfect. For the price I’ll deal with it.

These are great shirts! Perfect balance of warmth and thickness. I ordered a 2xl and it fits me perfectly at 6'4"/250#. I was out in 25° weather this past weekend with just this shirt and a t-shirt underneath. Plenty warm enough during active work.

Even thought its rated super cold. It feels lighter then my non 1/4 zip pullovers. It runs smaller and if it shrinks in the wash like the plain tops it will be very tight. Other wise its ok.

Carhartt sizing baffles me. Bought a mid-weight Carhartt Force base layer in XL and it was huge. Returned for credit (no problem, thanks Dungarees) then purchased this deal in Large. It's pretty snug. My view is that heavier base layers such as this work best if there's a little room to trap warm air around the body and a snug fit doesn't allow for this. Sleeve and tail lengths were ample though so I kept it. Tired of shipping for unpredictable sizes and feared XL might be too long. Shoulders, chest and torso are snug but acceptable (I'm a 44"chest/36" waist). The upside to snug fit is over-layering ability but, not under-layering. Otherwise good quality product as with most Carhartt, but their sizing is often inconsistent. I find it warm, but not excessively and not too much warmer than thinner base layers worn next to the skin. Perhaps better wind resistance though and could work well over a thin base layer. Hasn't been cold enough here in NY to try that combo yet. Nice item at sale price but not worth full list price, imo. Zip mock neck is a good feature, esp. if you're in and out of the cold; provides some venting ability. Good buy at sale price, thanks Dungarees!

This item does not wash well at all. Wore once and laundered per the instructions. The fabric pilled up terribly. We definitely expected more from a Carhartt product. We are usually impressed with the long wear on their items. Wore and laundered one more time and it looks even worse. This looked like a nice item that we would get long use out of. Instead, it will only be able to be worn at home as the pilling of the fabric makes it look old, worn and just plain dirty. I realize that washing an item like this with each wear is not necessary, but I did figure it could hand at least one wash without falling apart. Not at all worth the money.
