Danner 63100 - Men's Sierra™ Insulated (200G) Hunting Boots

Nothing better than Danner ! Added the sierra boot to my collection for cool to warm weather use. Tough and comfortable for hunting or general work.

Although listed as 8” boots these sierras are taller than my 8” elk hunters. Look forward to putting as many miles on these boots as my elk hunters which i love and were purchased in 2013.

The quality of Danner boots are outstanding. Only took 2 days to break in , perfect fit. They are built to last a long time. True to size

this it the 4th pair I have owned over several decades. Older ones I have worn out backpacking, hiking, fishing, hunting. Some have been resoled along the way. After Danner resoled them last time they were just too tight for my feet for long hikes for some reason. My new ones are a half size longer. I like how the lacing goes all the way to the toes so I can adjust them better to my feet. I tried the wider ones, but they are way TOO wide. I wish Danner had a better guide on how to select width and size.

THE GOOD: I have had these boots for about a week so far and immediately after opening the box for the first time I knew I had made the right decision. The quality of these boots was obvious from the first time I picked them up. Very lightweight and seemingly sturdy construction (will update they fail early but from other reviews I do not think that will happen). The price tag, which I know is steep, made sense to me after I laced them up. They are supremely comfortable the first time on my feet. I ended up wearing them the entire night just sitting in my house to see how they felt for longer periods (started with 4 hours) and they were quite comfortable. Even with mid to heavyweight work socks my feet were never roasting. I also wore them outside with temps dipping below 30F and they were still very comfortable no hint of cold feet. I really love these boots and hope for many years to come with them in service including field duty in fall & spring (will do some winter testing as well). I will continue to buy Danner Made in USA - recraftable boots for my lifetime. No more foreign boots. My next set will be the Canadians. Hoping for years of Made in USA service! OTHER NOTE: The boots are slightly narrow compared to some I have tried. I have narrower feet so it is not a concern of mine but it is a snug fit in the width. I feel they would break in quite well and might offer more width after some break in but just a good note for anyone with semi wide feet. The length of the boot is a fair bit long. I came from a set of Pronghorn 1200s that really crushed my toes (known for having a terribly small toe box and short length) these are much longer! I was in a size 8.5 Pronghorn 1200 that crushed my toes after 2 hours of wearing them but the Sierra in 8.5 is great! Perfect amount of room right out of the box with no break in done. THE BAD: One thing that really threw me off with these is they come with a set of Danner's airthotic inserts. Which sounds great but they send it with the plastic version. The plastic version makes it so your heels slide all over the place. I hated them when I tried them in the boots. I have ordered the foam set because I do like the way the insert made the boot fit but in the field those would murder my feet and heels especially. Seems like a bad decision from Danner though it is minor I do recommend Danner changing over to the foam version or if you are buying them buy a set of the foam inserts to go along with your boots.

I wear these boots for work, 5/6 days a week, 9 to 12 hours each day. My work has me on a number of different surfaces, in all sorts of weather. There is no other boot for me. The quality of these boots and the fact that they are made in the USA makes them a good value for my money.
