Yes, these are super expensive, but if you can afford them and want the best you can get, I think you’ll be happy with these. As someone who only buys American made clothing, I’m used to making compromises with shoes. While I love my SOMs, they’re not great for the muddy or slippery terrain of the PNW. These Danner Light II felt very confident and secure. They kept my feet dry while making a couple trips across ankle deep water to carry dogs across a precarious stream. I would have turned back if I wasn’t wearing these Danners. Love the fact that they are resoleable. Also assume that you’ll wear the EE wide unless you have freakishly narrow feet.

I bought my first Danner boots in 1988 and love them. I am still using them but they are finally about worn out. I don't remember their model name but I bought these new Danner Light II's because they looked closest to my old ones and are made in USA. So far they seem just as durable and well made. My only complaint is the upper lace hooks are smaller and harder to lace than my old ones. You can see the difference in the photo.
