Excellent jacket for my needs

From: Reno, NV Age: 55-65 Gender: Male
I moved to the Reno, NV area for a new job. My so called California winter clothing wasn't cutting it. The wind & cold cut right through what I brought with me, so I needed a better solution. This jacket works perfectly for me. Temperatures have been in the 20's & 30's in this drought busting winter. I wear this jacket to clear snow off my car and to keep handy on my weekly commutes over the Sierra Nevada mountains. I feel confident it will serve me well should I be stuck in traffic and need to get out in the snow. I don't like to wear hats so the hood provides instant warmth when I need to pull it on. I especially like the many front pockets for carrying my EDC gear. The chest pockets are big enough to carry my IPhone 7 Plus. And the lower pockets carry my 2 pairs of gloves. This is an excellent cold weather jacket. Well made. I highly recommend buying one.

Excellent fit and very stylish cold weather jacket

From: Gambrills, MD Age: 55-65 Gender: Male
I am 6'5", with long arms, but a relatively short torso, so I wear 48 Long coat or blazer. When selecting the size for the Jackson Sandstone Coat, I ordered an XL-Tall. It fits great, with extra room for layering, which increases the versatility of this coat- what I was looking for. The draw string is a nice feature, both in terms of cutting off cold air from moving up my torso, and from a style perspective- gives the coat a more "tailored" look. Side warmer pockets are generously sized and well-positioned- better than my old coat. Zipper pull is large and easy to grab with gloves on. My coat is Moss Green with Tan fleece- very sharp looking. I am going to treat my coat to give it some water resistance. I wore the coat for the first time when the temps got down in the low-20s, and it was very warm. The only thing I would change on this coat is that I wish it had a "storm flap" to cover the zipper. Overall, I am very pleased with this coat, and would definitely buy it again.

IF YOU ARE FAT. I am 339 lbs and I feel Covered Well

From: Richmond Dale, OH Age: 45-54 Gender: Male
When you are Fat and NOT a tall it is hard to find stuff. If you settle and get a tall (I am 5'101/2") the sleeve at anywhere you shop the clothing sleeve's pass half or more up your hands. Carhartt had 3x and 4x in a regular and in a tall sizes also so that was no problem. When I looked around at Carhartt and other places the deal breaker was the hood. Places had hoods, some really big and made with a good lining. Surprize, some places don't have hoods that are adjustable. I was in the process of checking out/paying for a coat at a rival company and looked close at purchase again. Low and behold there was no drawl string on hood. The coat would be unable to cinch around my head in OHIO's bitter cold and I said "H" no. I was surprised while still shopping around how many places did't have a string, snaps, or zipper for the area around the head. Only problem I have had is with the zipper. I have only worn it a couple of times. Zipper some times doesn't like to start and the company would probably give me no problems if it is faulty. I had not bought a winter coat for over 3 years and finally on a late Sunday night I made my order because a bad winter storm was going to hit Wednesday morning so I needed the coat ASAP. Because order was Sunday night I knew it wasn't going to be processed till Monday morning so I did the over night shipping. Yes it was $30 but I am in a small town and the coat was at my house at 11 am on Tuesday. When I wrote this Review the Jacket was on a big sale $119.99 - $127.49 when i got mine after cost, tax, and $30 shipping came to $214,49 and my friends and I think it was worth every penny from Carhartt. Thank You Benjamin

A Great Coat - I have 3 of them.

From: Rockford, IL Age: Over 65 Gender: Male
This is a great coat. Very warm, windproof, lots of functional pockets, rugged, and a hood is always there when needed. Only drawback for some may be that it is relatively heavy. I bought one for general wear that after several years became my work coat. I recently bought a second one for general wear, and a third one for my winter trips to my remote cabin in N. Ontario. I bought that 1 size larger so I can fit a heavy wool shirt under it and have been very comfortable at 40 below (F) on my snow mobile. They look good enough to wear to an informal business meeting, and are tough enough for wood cutting in the woods...

One Obvious Achilles’ Heel

From:  Age: 35-44 Gender: Male
For the most part, this jacket is fantastic. It feels tough and durable. It has plenty of zippered pouches. It’s warm. It fits well. There’s just one obvious problem with the design. The zipper is big and looks strong, but it’s tough to zip. You have to put extra force on the zipper, and while that zipper looks tough, upon closer examination, the little bar connecting the pull is very thin, and its corners are 90 degrees rather than round. This makes it a major stress concentration area, and I don’t think it’s going to last that long before it breaks. It’s a shame because other than that, it seems like a very durable coat. A better design on the zipper would go a long way to making this one of the best coats ever made.
