Keen 1020085 - Detroit Mid

No break-in period needed. So comfortable that I put them on to do a few quick chores around the house before heading to the airport and didn't even realize that I'd forgotten to change out of them until the metal detector reminded me that I was wearing steel-toe boots! They last as long as you'd hope they would, and by the time I feel like I might need a new pair, they still look like new boots, so it's easy to confuse the new pair with the old ones. When I take these to shoe recycling in our community, the workers there always take them instead of adding them to the pile. I know that shoe companies like to change out styles, but I really hope that Keen keeps these around for life (or at least until I retire).

Heavier than my other boots but the toe is great for cutting and splitting logs. The size 13 was too tight so I got a 14. Live them. Comfortable.

I've been wearing the Detroit boots for years now. Very comfortable and require no break in time at all. The look and feel are second to none. I just ordered a new pair of the Pittsburgh boot in Black. I want to try out the carbon fiber safety toe and it also appears to be slightly taller for treking through loose snow. I hope I like them as much as my previous pairs.

These are the best work boots I've had (and I'm old). I've tried on most Keen work boots and these are hands-down the best fit for me. There are 2 problems: 1. The cloth lace loops wear through in about a year. My workaround on this is to install metal D-ring lace loops right over the cloth ones - through them and the leather they're mounted on. You punch through the cloth, put a rivet through the new metal loop and through the cloth and leather - then smash the rivet to spread the back of it. Once I did that the lace loop problem was permanently solved. 2. The layers of the sole delaminate. I tried Barge cement, but without totally disassembling the sole layers and gluing & clamping them (above my pay grade and no good shoe repair shops here), this is a fatal flaw. In my case, the uppers are just fine for working - the soles aren't cracked and could probably be fixed or replaced by a skilled person. Why doesn't Keen offer this service? For $100 or so, I'd much prefer to restore my work boots to good working order. Instead, they go to the landfill and I have to buy a new pair. This would be a great service and could be staffed by Keen employees who'd like to cut back on hours (from production) or partially retire.

They seem to fit pretty good . There’s more room in the tow box that I’m used to, but I understand keen is known for that
