I have had some mild plantar fasciitis challenges and now look for hiking boots with firmer more solid soles. This boot is working out well for me. The sole feels soft and flexible enough without feeling like I am just wearing a tennis shoe. I also find the tread grips well on slopes and somewhat slippery terrain. In my experience these boots run a half size small especially if you need a more roomy toe-box

Nice boots. I've narrow feet and the D width with this last is a better fit than the EE used in the Danner Light. I like Danner and I'd give it a 5 but there are two really minor issues:
The loop at the top of the boot in the back, presumably for pulling the boot on, is so small you can't even get your pinkie in it. Honestly nothing larger in diameter than a pencil will fit. Weird.
And the tongue has one of those keepers to run the laces through, but it's near the top where you lace the speed hooks and it makes it awkward when pulling the laces tight. Difficult to describe but as soon as you lace them you'll get it.
Minor issues on a otherwise great shoe.
