Inconsistant sizes and fit

I purchase tree pairs of the cushion wool socks. out of the tree pairs, one pair was just right. two pairs had one sock a full inch shorter than the other and one of the two dysfunctional pairs is very tight in the top. I'm a woman with big feet (size 9 in women's and 8 in men's) so I like the roomier men's socks and shoes. However, the two pairs are very tight on me. They are supposed to fit up to men's size 11 or 12. I can't imagine a man with size 11 feet being able to fit the tight calf part of these socks. The one pair that is consistent in both calf length and tightness is very nice. I would have purchased more if they were all that way. So disappointed.....

These are comfortable socks. I bought them to wear with boots. They are too thick to fit with pull on boots but are great with lace up work or hiking boots. They are comfortable. I did not rate durability - how are you to know just a few days in if a product will last?
