I have used these suspender buttons before on my Carhartt logger jeans. I use Carhartt suspenders while doing metal fabrication, welding, etc. I switched from belts to suspenders because after decades of over tightening my belt to keep my tool belt rig from sliding down, I finally broke down and tried suspenders. Wish I had done it a few decades ago.
The buttons look suspiciously fragile in that they have plastic parts. But after affixing them to several pairs of older logger jeans and running them through the wash several times they appear to be a solid choice. These buttons attach to jeans permanently, very similar to installing rivets, snaps, metal grommets, etc. If you’ve never installed rivets/grommets/snaps such as you’d find at a leather craft store or something similar, buy enough of these buttons to practice and intentionally destroy a few to get a handle on how they work. They’re relatively cheap and the payoff for learning how to install them correctly is worth a few extra dollars. If a button falls off at some point, just look closely at the button to see why it failed...probably hit too hard and split the plastic during installation. Don’t go haywire, just install another button and keep working. All of these different types of retrofit suspender buttons have to be correctly installed or they fall off at some point. Some are worse than others due to cheap manufacturing techniques. These buttons have withstood the type of work I do with no failures so far after several months. That’s significant because the type of metal fabrication I do very quickly destroys my tools, my work clothes, even my leather tool belts and leather safety gear. I create billowing clouds of fire, smoke and metal slag. I catch myself on fire regularly, break hammer handles, destroy denim work pants and create commotion and calamity like a runaway freight train. And my suspender buttons are still attached and doing fine after months of abuse. But I’ve also installed countless rivets, snaps, grommets and such over the years. So practice installing these things, intentionally break a few, definitely try to remove a few that appear to have been installed correctly, and get rid of your belt. Suspenders are awesome!!
