The real test will be in 5 years, will it retain the 5 stars? Out of the gate, very warm, roomy and a great fit for an athletic build. The cuffs are nice and snug, the waist elastic as well. I like the pockets inside and out. Looking forward to seeing what abuse it survives for being built to work. Very glad I took a chance with the Extreme. I'm debating on the bibs...

The Carhartt Yukon Extremes Loose Fit Insulated Active Jacket excels at keeping you warm with its Thinsulate insulation and wind-resistant shell. It feels lightweight and is not bulky. My initial use of the jacket was in the windy, rainy climate of British Columbia in November. It kept me warm and dry, and I didn't feel the wind at all through the jacket. Then, as I moved to the colder, snowier climate of Northwest Ontario for the rest of winter, it continued to keep me warm from the cold, and I used the hood quite often. Highly recommended after trying various types of Carhartt jackets for winter, and after trying the tall version of this jacket. One thing I did notice is that at temperatures dropping below -10 Celsius, I did start to feel the cold, prompting me to wear another layer of clothing underneath, but your mileage may vary.

Great jacket, small nitpicks

Great jacket, great insulation, wish the inside sleeves had a more fabric-y feel as when you work up a sweat, it sticks to your arms like a plastic raincoat. Also, I wish the inside breast pockets opened at the top instead of the side so I could drop my phone in instead of unzipping the side and rezipping. The stomach hand warming pockets could also be deeper for big hands like myself. I got a XXL thinking the pockets would also increase in size for my monster hands, but currently my palms and wrists are exposed to the cold when I tuck them into the pockets. All the nitpicking aside, this is a great jacket.
