I love this coat I bought it to replace a down jacket. I get so many compliments on this coat. Its flattering and sooooo warm!
My coworker and even my father bought the guy version of this coat!
Only complaint is... Its a fur dust and lint magnet!

We recently moved from the Phoenix Valley to Northern Arizona. We are getting used to cold, snow and wind. My wife needed a coat that will protect her from the winter when she walks the dog. This coat is perfect; great length, warm and the wind can't get thru it. Medium is perfect for her.

To get the zipper started is impossible and very frustrating. Actually non-usable at times. Otherwise, I am please with the warmth and quality.
A bit too long.

I went into my local carhartt to try one the active jac version of this coat but as it was on clearance, they were sold out of it unfortunately. I was able to try on the parka though. Normally i wear a size XL in ladies or 2XL if i want to layer, but i am a Large in men’s and i frequently buy the men’s b/c of the room i have for layers and it fits me better as the ladies run too close.
The only size avail to try on was a 2XL in ladies. I have to say it’s built like a tank. Def built like it will handle the extreme cold/elements w/ no issues at all. Lots of pockets and they are warm too. The 2XL was def too big for me. It went below my butt just above my knees. I’m 5’6, 207lbs. I def had room for multiple layers. It was very warm. It’s sturdy/well made. Def durable. I would of loved to go outside the store to test it as it was cold/windy that day. I could tell just by trying it on though that this coat def could withstand anything you throw at it.
It’s not as stiff as ppl are claiming, at least i didn’t think so. Stiff to me is the j140. This is nothing like that. It’s softer then their sandstone duck jackets. I could move freely in it w/o any issues. It’s not a Full Swing coat but i’m sure it would benefit from being one. I didn’t feel any tightness in the arms but keep in mind i was wearing a size that was too large for me. The 2XL in ladies felt like a 3-4xl in ladies or like i was in a 2XL Tall size. So i think this coat def runs large. If i bought ladies, i think the XL would be the size that works for me for layers too.
I didn’t end up buying the coat as they did not have my size but i def would have if they did as they were on clearance for only $80. After trying on the parka though, i want the active jac version of this coat since you can remove the liner. It would be nice if carhartt would just sell the liner.

I am 5'4, 173lb, 27 year old female. I LOVE this parka! The first time wearing this parka we went snowboarding and tubing for the first time (Which means I fell...a lot). We spent 4 hours in the snow and I did not get wet at all. I highly recommend this parka.

I generally don't wear jackets let alone longer parkas... more of a vest person... but it's been sub-zero so I bought this... it's amazing. It's very warm and easy to move in, and the fur is quality.

Bought this for my teenage daughter who will be off to college soon. She loves how warm it is. Only drawback is that it's a bit stiff (a good wash will fix that).

This coat is literally the best and warmest coat I've ever owned. So worth the money. I live in Michigan so it gets COLD and I walk outside in all weather. This coat keeps me toasty warm AND dry it the miserable weather. I would highly recommend this coat.

I love this coat so so much, I would highly reccomend to anyone as is, but I do see room for Carhartt to make improvements.
I live in southern OR which gets very cold. I am a full time farmer and in the winter our focus is on our Boer goat herd. That being said this coat was purchased as a work/barn coat and I am not easy on clothes at all. My absolute favorite feature of this coat is the removable fur!! I am not a girly girl and do not like the look of the furs. The fur feature on this coat easily removes via snaps and doesn't compromise the look of the coat at all! Winning <3
Positives:
~VERY warm....if you're not dealing with very low or below zero temps get a different coat, you will be too warm
~Love the long body Parka cut. I love that this covers my rear and keeps me fully warm. The cut is also very feminine. Awesome for someone with a extra long torso and worth it's weight in gold for someone using this coat while working. You can bend over, stretch, lift and raise your arms and not get the cold breeze and wind on your lower back.
~Easily REMOVABLE FUR
~Warm hood that isn't short or falling back off your head. Also like the internal drawstrings at the waste, you can secure the coat to your body to block wind from coming up.
~Tough durable canvas that is definitely softer and more flexible than my old traditional Carhartt coat
Negatives/Room for Improvement:
~Like every Carhartt coat I have ever had the arms are short and force me to size up. I am a slender woman and my body width fits the XS the absolute best for a tapered feminine fitted look and fit, BUT the arms in the XS are above my wrist and would make me cold. I am forced to get the S in order to have long enough sleeves but then I end up with my coat fitting oversized and making me look boxy no matter how tight I adjust the waist draw strings. This has consistently been the biggest overall downfall for me with Carhartt coats as I have the same situation with all 3 of my Carhartt coats. The extra material when I size up for sleeves being as boxy is not only unflattering but makes my coats not hug against my body and allows air and cold to come up under my coats.
~This coat is softer than my old style canvas Carhartt but still a stiffer coat. I am confident it will soften with use but it is fairly stiff and not as flexible as other coats. I have notice some limit in my flexibility and range of motion.
~Can be difficult to zip. With the parka length and the stiffness of the material I have had a lot of trouble zipping my own coat. I am finding it easier to just ask my husband to help me. The zipper itself functions perfectly so far, I truly believe its just the stiff material and zipper position.
~Would prefer a ribbed style inner sleeve cuff. Perfect warmth and insulation in this coat and I don't mind the nylon like lining at all. I do wish the cuff rather than being a nylon slick gathered cuff was a ribbed sweatshirt style warmer cuff that maybe extended a bit past the length of the canvas sleeve. I think this could also be a great solution to the sleeve length problem I have had and have seen others mention as well.
OVERALL I highly recommend this coat especially for Hard WORK and WINTER harsh temps <3 Thank you Carhartt for always being my trusted provider of barn clothes.
