Pretty good. Not sure why it's missing the better parts from the non-force extremes versions.

From: Rockford, IL Age: 35-44 Gender: Male
Punches well above its weight for staying warm. Very comfortable. It moves great. The chest pockets look out of place on this type of jacket. I really wish it had the map/napolean type chest pocket of the non-Force Extremes versions. That would be much more useful. The neck is unique, but not bad. It's like a turtleneck jacket when zipped all the way. No cold air is getting by. However, it's very soft and you only feel it when the jacket is zipped up all the way. I would prefer a mock neck (slightly higher and not as tight like the softshell jackets) or hood. I really wish the hood from the non-force extreme versions was available. It's very comfortable and moves well. I have used this for running a couple times and it was just fine. It's not an athletic cut like a running jacket, just a very versatile jacket. I never realized how awesome armpit zippers are. Wow. Sleeves (especially closer to wrists) are a little big, but there's a closure to help. Not much different than other Carhartts. I feel like all Carhartt jackets could be a bit more tapered at the bottom, but this one fits better there than my other Carhartt jackets. Good news there. I just *feel* like these types of jackets should be more form fitting and that opinion may not be shared by all. The MSRP appears pricey for Carhartt, but I got mine on sale locally. All of the Force Extremes stuff seems to carry a large price tag. I have never tried on the non-Force Extremes Gilliams, so I can't really compare them that much. I'm pretty sure I would have grabbed the hooded Gilliam instead if available though. A few dollars less and the more useful chest pocket and hood vs. the unique collar would probably be nice.

Neck Choker!

From: Longmont, CO Age: 35-44 Gender: Male
You can't tell it from the pictures on the website, but the collar for this jacket is elastic and is designed to fit around your neck pretty snugly (presumably to keep the cold air out). I'm sure the design looks good on paper, but I found the tight collar distracting and uncomfortable in the field. I also found that the bottom of the jacket wasn't quite as close to the body as the picture indicates. It almost flared out a little, which wasn't the best looking feature of the jacket. Otherwise, I liked the jacket...just not what I was expecting. Carhartt might think about updating the pictures of this jacket so that the functionality of the collar is more accurately depicted.

Surprising jacket that strays from the usual Carhartt formula.

From: Rockaway, NY Age: 35-44 Gender: Male
This jacket really surprised me. I'm not sure why they don't mention it in the description but the tags say it has technology that maintains 37.5% humidity inside the jacket. Supposedly that is the optimum humidity and it dumps excess heat to keep you from overheating. The jacket is very light but also very warm. At 30° I was comfortable with just a long sleeve t-shirt underneath. Very confident in this jacket's ability to keep me warm at low temps. It's very wind resistant and a drizzle beads up on it. The cuffs and bottom hem are made of a soft canvas material. It has a bottom hem cinch a well. Pit zips with mesh inside them for when you overheat. The only dislike I have is the top of the collar has elastic in it so it is snug around the neck. It's just a little strange and I guess I will get used to it, but I see how it can take body heat in so I guess it's functional. Can't attest to the durability yet but the material seems a little thicker than your standard puffer jacket material. Very pleased with this jacket. Got it for work but can easily be worn casually without looking like a work jacket.

Quickly became my favorite jacket

From: , WA Age: 35-44 Gender: Male
Absolutely love this jacket, comfortable to wear over a t shirt in the 40s and keeps me warm in the 10s over a flannel, great under a rain jacket on wet windy days standing in a river or sitting in a duck blind

From: Vallejo, CA Age: 45-54 Gender: Male
Good jacket I you wanna get something that's not heavy it's good for the winter it will keep you cool with out over heating great price considering that I was going to buy a competitor's jacket and they run over250bucks and it's not rugged compare to the materials the ad on the outside overall I'm very happy with the product.

A guy can not have too many Carhartt coats.

From:  Age: 35-44 Gender: Male
I am a big fan of Carhartt products. I have at least five coats and wear Carhartt shirts nearly every day. I was very pleased with the new Gillam jacket, but was disappointed when I learned, after getting home, that I spent over $125 in the store and the sales person did not tell me that I qualified for a free gift. I did have to order my new coat on line from the Milwaukee store because they did not have my size in the color I wanted.

Perfect lightweight jacket

From: Rensselaer, NY Age: 65+ Gender: Male
This jacket is lightweight, but with the material it keeps you warm during various temperature swings based on your body temperature. Amazing, it does not get too hot or cold, regardless of the temperature, wind, or conditions. It fits perfect and is easy to work in or for casual wear. The collar keeps your neck protected from the weather and it is a stylish jacket. I recommend purchase by anyone wanting a warm - wind resistant jacket for all seasons.
