He loved it

From:  Age: 55-64 Gender: Female
I bought this coat as a birthday gift for my daughter's fiance. It is a wonderful coat. He absolutely loved it. The color was true to the pictures of it. The zipper was a little stiff but we put wax on it and it worked just fine. I would definitely recommend this product. I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you Carhartt.

New review

From:  Age: 45-54 Gender: Male
I previously wrote a review on this coat titled "poor quality snaps" . I tried to add to that post but could not figure out how, so I am writing a new one. The bottom line is that I returned the J284 coat and purchased the C95 Jackson coat. I give the C95 coat 5 stars and highly recommend it. My review of the C95 is in the C95 review section.

Good Jacket...mostly

From:  Age: 35-44 Gender: Male
This is a good jacket. I can only complain about two things. The first thing Carhartt should change is the hand-warmer/front pockets at the waist. They're made of a light-weight, thin synthetic material that feels absolutely awful when you put your dry, winter-chapped hands into. The material snags on all those little rough spots you get on your hands from the winter season, and to me, is like nails on a chalkboard. I took scissors and cut mine out of the jacket. Why they didn't just make the pockets out of the same canvas the jacket is made from, I can't understand. My second issue is with the snaps. They are weird, in that they don't "snap" well. I'd describe them as not confident, though they seem to be breaking-in. To their credit, once "snapped", I've not had them fail. Otherwise, I'm happy with this jacket. It's plenty warm without being bulky , has good range of motion and so far has the toughness you expect from Carhartt. If they'd fix the two issues I wrote about, it'd be a great, not good jacket.

Returning it. Way too big.

From:  Age: 20-24 Gender: Male
Great coat, but way bigger than expected. I tried on a different style and it fit perfect. I ordered this one online in the same size and I'm swimming in it. I'm definitely returning it. I haven't had a chance to test the durability so I rated it average.

Great coat but the Buttons!

From:  Age: 25-34 Gender: Male
I just got this jacket and love it. Only problum is the buttons, they open so easly. Its seemed like I may have purchased a defective one but nope. Came on this and other people have also thought the same. Carhartt you need to change these buttons, other than that this coat is one of the best iv owned. Would recommend this coat to anybody just have buttons switched out at a tailor.

Great jacket,almost perfect.

From:  Age: 45-54 Gender: Male
The best jacket of the 6 or so Carhartt jackets I have owned over the years, but it needs a little refining. The buttons either don't hold and there is one that is hard to release, even lubed with soap.It would be good if the lower pockets went into the insulation so when you stick your hands in they get warm.It could use a drawstring inside around the waist and lose the sherpa for fleece. One more little thing, not sure if that little patch pocket on the left is for an IPad,but would be good if it either wasn't there or would fit an IPhone. The black is the best looking color it comes in.The jacket may not have been intended for work in the field, but rather casual wearing, but it is a great all around jacket.

Great looking coat, really poor button quality

From:  Age: 35-44 Gender: Male
I'd noticed the comments from prior reviewers re: the snap buttons being poor quality, but assumed it could have simply been a bad run... Nope. Just got mine yesterday and the buttons are terrible. I'm 6'0 and an athletic 190lbs (i.e. no belly-assisted button popping), and these buttons pop open when the coat scrunches getting in and out of cars, moving casually (opening doors, turning your head with the hood on, etc). There's no way these stay buttoned when doing something active/work-related. Love the look/feel of the coat, and the appearance of buttons adds to that... They just need to work. Only knock on an otherwise great coat.

Almost nailed it...

From:  Age: 25-34 Gender: Male
I have been wearing Carhartt for years and just got this jacket. Everything is great about this jacket. Except THE BUTTONS. They are very cheap buttons that barely hold the jacket closed. They pop open easily with the slightest resistance. Considering returning it for my money back, but might just have a tailor put a heavy duty zipper in, using the buttons only as a secondary closure. You guys almost nailed it! Why did you skimp on the cheap buttons/no zipper? I would gladly pay more up front for this product if it had a solid closure system.

this is my go to jacket for work

From:  Age: 25-34 Gender: Male
this is my go to jacket for work/bush/play. it is warm(but breaths), no restricted movement, great colours, feels solid and feels like you're wearing something of quality, the hood is vey well designed,...... one thing i love love love is the storm cuffs great looking and good working feature all carhartt jacket should have this!!!!. love the texture of the fabric, the right amount of pockets, i like how it doesn't have elastic around the bottom. things i would add: a proper "by swing" shoulder rather then a folded and stitched fake one , and the option of a collared version for the people that don't want a hood ( i like the hood ), and add water proofing as is absorbs water very easy when it rains. i love this jacket going to buy my farther one to
