Danner 26221 - Stalwart

I'm a 55 yr old retired career military pilot who needed STF boots for a museum flying job; I won't ruck in these but I will be on my feet for long hours. I understand that, at my age, my comfort and needs in a boot are different from someone in their 20's. I tested several types of boots and, although I did not need these Recokonings (mainly because they were not waterproof) I kept them because I liked them so much. During service I usually wore Belleville 690/790, which are excellent boots - these Danners are similar, but better overall. These boots were immediately comfortable out of the box with almost zero break-in required. They seem well constructed and a good mix of sturdy and protective without a Frankenstein feel. I also liked that they look very professional without the modern Space Trooper styling that seems to be in style these days. The tongue design is just right vs other manufacturers. The tread is sufficient, but level enough to allow me to use aircraft foot pedals easily. My greatest disappointment was in the Danner insoles, which I have replaced. Given that these were the most expensive boots I tried, the insoles should have been top of the line. As a side note, I also tried the Danner Resurgent and Tanicus. On paper (other than no STF rating) these boots were lighter and should have been a better choice for me - yet neither was half as comfortable. If this boot fits your mission, I would certainly give it a try. The Danner policy of free shipping and return from the company site makes it a no-brainer.

Form, fit and function are great, the lace garage is key for those that must blouse their work pants. This is the second pair I’ve had and am positive I will order a third when it’s time to replace these. They provide comfort and protection for extended working hours regardless of working conditions like dirt, concrete, water, or carpet for the chair warriors.

Could also be the fact that I???ve worn military boots for the last 20 years but they felt a little narrow. Otherwise the most comfortable boots I???ve worn.

These boots are comfy and durable. I've had them for 4 years now and couldn't be happier my my purchase!! Danner, please make a black full grain leather of these for Law Enforcement!

Im a DHS K9 handler so I’m always on my feet. These are by far the best for the job. Very comfortable after breaking in. Ordered them 10.5 Wide, my regular sneaker/tennis shoe size is 10 so I would say just order a half size bigger specially if you’re planning on using custom orthotics. Also best way to break them in is to soak them in water & go for a walk so that the leather molds to the shape of your foot faster.

I love these boots but the sizing chart led me to buy one size too big. They fit to my normal size 13. Had to return the 14's.

I've owned multiple Danner Tannicus boots over the years. My only complaint is the uppers separate at the mating seam by the pinky toe on every pair i've owned
