Frequently Asked Questions

Carhartt work pants are made from a variety of tough materials:

- Duck or Firm Duck is made from stiff, ring-spun cotton. Part of the canvas family, duck fabric is snag proof, wind proof, and extremely durable.

- Canvas is a lightweight, durable material made from 100% cotton. While slightly lighter than Carhartt duck, Carhartt canvas pants are both rugged and comfortable.

- Washed Duck is made from durable, classic duck that's been washed to give it a worn-in look and feel. Washed duck fabric breaks in faster, but maintains its durability. Washed duck is comparable to Carhartt's now-retired sandstone fabric.

- Ripstop is a reinforced poly/cotton fabric that's designed to keep rips from spreading. Carhartt ripstop pants have a small grid-like pattern on their surface.

- Twill is lightweight and durable. Twill fabric gives the appearance of dress slacks and is a popular choice for workers who wear uniforms.
Carhartt provides bonus fabric features including Rugged Flex® and Force® technologies. Pants with Rugged Flex® are made with a small percentage of spandex, adding just the right amount of stretch and comfort. Carhartt Force® pants wick away sweat, dry fast, and keep you cool on warm days.
Carhartt pants are available in three different fits - slim, relaxed, and loose.

- Slim Fit is the slimmest fit Carhartt manufactures, offering a more fitted seat and thigh with tapered leg openings.

- Relaxed Fit is roomier than slim fit pants, but slimmer than loose fit. Most relaxed fit pants have straight leg openings.

- Loose Fit is the loosest fitting pant Carhartt offers, with a loose seat and thigh and wide leg openings.

Because they're designed specifically for workers, Carhartt pants are equipped with unique add-ons such as: double knees, utility pockets, wear-proof pocket edges and leg openings, cell phone pockets, hammer loops and linings.
