Carl — Age 68 I have worn the SO9 shirts for years and love the feel and fit. I wear them for both casual and work shirts. Always liked the dark brown and dark green. I have been buying these shirts for many years now, sometimes in the secondary market. They have become my favorite weekday shirt. They even work as a dress shirt, when pressed, on occasion. They age well and are some of the most comfortable shirts I own.

This shirt was the epitome of Carhartt quality and the fact that they discontinued it despite excellent widespread customer feedback is a demonstration that Carhartt has jumped the shark and no is no longer fixated on high quality work wear. Sad to see the brand loose its focus.

I’ve been buying these ... not many 2nds ... for years ... originally they were not called “Oakman”, they were just heavy 100% cotton twill.
5-6 per year more if they had other colors.
I wear them as semi dress shirts and gradually downgrade them as I “break” them in. For whatever reason, they wear like iron until after several years (or a couple with truly rough wear) and then finally begin to fail all at once. No complaint.
They’re great as shirt jackets in cold weather and as regular shirts otherwise ... a bit warm for hot days.
The new version has “Spandex” in it ... if I wanted “Spandex” I’d’ve joined a ballet troupe
I think I wore these every bit of 2/3rds of every year for 12+ years.
I will jealously guard the ones I have.
I will miss them sorely now that I can no longer replace them.
