GREAT GIFT!

From: San Francisco, CA Age: 25-34 Gender: Female
Bought this jacket as a gift for someone who spends majority of his workday outdoors. It's light weight and easy to layer up with. He loves it! He's 6' and wears a large.

I've had my jacket a little over a year and while I'm sure I don't use it to it's full potential It's worked well in many different situations. Love the zippers under the arms for the clammy Summer days and paired with a thick sweatshirt it's great for snow shoveling on mild winter days. The toggle on the back of the hood is super helpful because it is big. My only complaint is the zipper was troublesome and finally jammed up and broke. I contacted customer service, got a return label and sent it in. Received a new jacket about 3 weeks later, so it turned out OK. This zipper is easier to use so hopefully it was not a widespread issue.

Feels big, weird hood

From: Chicago, IL Age: 25-34 Gender: Male
So, I bought this specifically for bicycle commuting as it was Carhartt's best option what with the welded seams and pit zips. First the good. 1. The jacket is waterPROOF. At least for now. It's only been through one rain shower, and not a heavy one. I'll be sure to update this review should it ever fail. However, the material is multilayered and seems very well put together. The welded seems are strong and I have high hopes that this will make it more than a season or two like so many rain jackets. 2. Breathability. Pretty decent. This winter has been especially warm and riding with just this jacket and my bike jersey in ~40 degrees was pleasant. I did sweat in it, but I sweat in everything. More importantly it didn't feel like things were getting super boggy inside, and the two-way zipper and zipped arm pits made fine-tuning the airflow a breeze. On to critiques: 1. Fitment is strange. Looking at myself in the mirror the jacket seems to fit fine, but it feels very big, especially when I'm bent over the bike and the midsection just flops down. Carhartt is definitely designed with an American fit in mind, but I could have used something slightly more body contoured. Tried adjusting the waist but it literally just tightens the seal around my hips, the design is quite boxy (just as pictured by the model). I bought a medium and a small would not have fit given arm length. NBD. I got to work dry. 2. The hood. This is really the only thing keeping the jacket from getting five stars. The hood devours air. It's like a massive scoop. I'm not talking about when I ride, even out walking the dog this thing will catch a gust and fly right off my head. You can even see in the model photos how much space there is around the head. There IS an elastic adjustment, but trust me when I say it doesn't do much. When wearing with a helmet this restricts head movement and peripheral vision, which isn't great when riding through the city. I've managed, and I'm glad to stay dry, but a better fitting hood would have been clutch. Would I recommend? Absolutely. I assume I'm using it outside of its design parameters, though I'm not entirely sure what this is intended to be used for otherwise... Either way, looks and feels like a high quality jacket, everything you'd expect from Carhartt.
